Sílvio Correia Santos is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra. He holds a PhD in Communication Sciences. His primary research subject is radio – particularly broadcasting history, public service media and participatory media. Other topics relevant to his research are media and education, and the disinformation society, particularly regarding the production and spreading of fake news. He was part of several research projects, namely RadioActive Europe, RadioActive Portugal, and RELOBIE: Reusable Learning Objects in Education. Currently, he is a researcher and member of the board of CEIS20, at the University of Coimbra. He teaches mostly about radio and multimedia production. In the last few years, he has also been a coordinator at communications offices in higher education. Formerly, Sílvio was a presenter and a producer at the public broadcaster RTP/RDP and a professor at other higher education institutions. He is a music lover with a passion for sound, a gardening apprentice and an enthusiastic sportsman.
